‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ by Travis Getz

I’m really sad to say I missed this print earlier this week and now they are all sold out. Travis has done an outstanding job with this print for Cinema Overdrive and I can see why they went so fast.

Measuring 18″ x 24″, 4 color screen print.  Limited edition of 55 prints they were priced at just $25.00 each plus shipping.

Here’s the good word from Matt Penanchi…..

CINEMA OVERDRIVE is extremely pleased to present the latest poster for our film series- artwork from Travis Getz honoring the original GONE IN 60 SECONDS!

GONE IN 60 SECONDS is an amazing ode to the American muscle car and an era of film-making that is long since past.  Made in 1974, this film is 95 minutes long and a grand total of 93 cars were destroyed making it!  And it was made in an era where movies were REAL…..no CGI here!  Some of the auto stunts in this film are nothing short of amazing, and the entire second half of the film (45 minutes) is devoted to one single car chase!

When Travis set out to design this poster he not only wanted to incorporate elements of the film, but to pay tribute to the era it was from as well.

The poster is a US “Ramp” speed limit sign that has been spray painted, rusted out, vandalized and had stickers slapped on it (if you ever took a road trip anywhere in the States in the 70s you probably saw something similar to this as you traveled down the highway!)

One of the most impressive details on this print is the background- if you’ll look closely, you’ll see that the background of the artwork is the schematic of a clutch assembly for a 1970s Ford Mustang.  And the rust detail around the edges printed beautifully as well.

This poster was a small run of 55 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist.  There was also a small “test batch” printed where the colors were a little “off”.  Travis signed and numbered the final batch, and the original “test batch” were all signed in blue ink as “APs”.  You can see a side by side comparison of both versions here (the “test version” is on the left):

The printer was kind enough to let us keep that original test batch.  So what we’ve done is had Travis sign and number the final batch, and the original batch were all signed as “APs” in blue ink so we have a small run of prints that is nothing but an “artist’s proof edition”.

So…..for a limited time only, when you purchase the GONE IN 60 SECONDS print you will not only get a beautiful, signed and numbered poster, BUT randomly inserted into the batch of orders some of you will also receive a copy of the artist proof edition as well- FOR FREE!   We have a very small amount of the test batch, but some of you will receive a special free surprise when you order this one!

Forgive me I’m a little late on these. Two great new prints from Cinema Overdrive designed by Travis Getz and Laurie Shipley, details below.

Happy New Year everyone!

We have two great shows coming up at the Colony Theater here in Raleigh, NC in the next two weeks.  They are:

Wednesday, January 12th  8:00pm

Cool Classics presents THE DARK CRYSTAL

If you’re local and can make it out we hope to see you there!

In conjunction with both of these shows there will be a limited edition screen print available.  The first is for ROLLING THUNDER, and it was created by artist Travis Getz.  It measures 18″ x 24″ and is a 3 color design printed by The Half and Half out of Columbia, SC.  In addition to what you see in the pic the poster has a little hidden bonus- each of the 6 main characters has a quote under their image which pops out when the poster is back-lit!

This is a limited edition of 77 prints, each signed and numbered by the artist.  The normal price is $25.00 plus shipping, but for all members of this mailing list (and locals in attendance at the show) you can pick this one up for just $20.00 plus shipping! (limit two per person)

In addition to that, anyone who orders a ROLLING THUNDER poster will get the first opportunity to pre-order a print for THE DARK CRYSTAL.  Now, this one is not back from the printer yet, and we don’t have a pic that shows you exactly how it will look.  But based on the fact that it will be a 24″ x 36″ inch poster designed by Laurie Shipley and printed at D&L Screenprinting, we have high hopes for it.  It will include some metallic inks and look a little something like this:

This poster will be a very small run of only 50 prints and we expect it to go pretty quickly.  The list price will be $40.00, and we won’t be putting it up on our web site for another week or so.

However, right now for anyone who orders both a ROLLING THUNDER and a DARK CRYSTAL poster, you can pick up both prints for just $50.00 plus shipping!  You have to buy both posters to get first crack at “The Dark Crystal” (at a reduced rate, no less!), but we think it’s a great deal and hope you will also.  We know the holidays were rough on everyone, so we thought we’d start 2011 off with some really cool prints at a great price for you.

For a look at all of our upcoming shows as well as older posters that we’ve offered, please visit our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net

If you have any questions or would like to purchase anything just drop me a line.  For everyone who purchases both prints they’ll ship sometime in the next week or two, once they’ve arrived.  ROLLING THUNDER prints are available for immediate shipment.

Thanks again for your loyal support!
