The Spaghetti Western Inventory by Max Dalton
I recently discovered the fantastic work of Max Dalton (Thanks OMG) and in particular this great movie inspired piece. Here’s the word from the man himself..
My father is a big fan of Spaghetti Western since I can remember and we used to watch those movies together when I was a little boy. So the whole genre feels a little like home to me. I’ve had great pleasure watching those movies all over again to make this poster, especially the ones directed by Sergio Leone.
Among the characters in the poster are Blondie, played by a young Clint Eastwood; Col. Douglas Mortimer, played by Lee Van Cleef; Gian Maria Volonté as Ramón, and many, many other Italian guys playing Mexicans to justify their odd accent . Horses, lots of guns a cannon and a gallows can’t be missing in a decent western inventory and, of course, the round figure of the great Sergio Leone.
