‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ by Travis Getz

April 17, 2011

I’m really sad to say I missed this print earlier this week and now they are all sold out. Travis has done an outstanding job with this print for Cinema Overdrive and I can see why they went so fast.

Measuring 18″ x 24″, 4 color screen print.  Limited edition of 55 prints they were priced at just $25.00 each plus shipping.

Here’s the good word from Matt Penanchi…..

CINEMA OVERDRIVE is extremely pleased to present the latest poster for our film series- artwork from Travis Getz honoring the original GONE IN 60 SECONDS!

GONE IN 60 SECONDS is an amazing ode to the American muscle car and an era of film-making that is long since past.  Made in 1974, this film is 95 minutes long and a grand total of 93 cars were destroyed making it!  And it was made in an era where movies were REAL…..no CGI here!  Some of the auto stunts in this film are nothing short of amazing, and the entire second half of the film (45 minutes) is devoted to one single car chase!

When Travis set out to design this poster he not only wanted to incorporate elements of the film, but to pay tribute to the era it was from as well.

The poster is a US “Ramp” speed limit sign that has been spray painted, rusted out, vandalized and had stickers slapped on it (if you ever took a road trip anywhere in the States in the 70s you probably saw something similar to this as you traveled down the highway!)

One of the most impressive details on this print is the background- if you’ll look closely, you’ll see that the background of the artwork is the schematic of a clutch assembly for a 1970s Ford Mustang.  And the rust detail around the edges printed beautifully as well.

This poster was a small run of 55 prints, each hand signed and numbered by the artist.  There was also a small “test batch” printed where the colors were a little “off”.  Travis signed and numbered the final batch, and the original “test batch” were all signed in blue ink as “APs”.  You can see a side by side comparison of both versions here (the “test version” is on the left):

The printer was kind enough to let us keep that original test batch.  So what we’ve done is had Travis sign and number the final batch, and the original batch were all signed as “APs” in blue ink so we have a small run of prints that is nothing but an “artist’s proof edition”.

So…..for a limited time only, when you purchase the GONE IN 60 SECONDS print you will not only get a beautiful, signed and numbered poster, BUT randomly inserted into the batch of orders some of you will also receive a copy of the artist proof edition as well- FOR FREE!   We have a very small amount of the test batch, but some of you will receive a special free surprise when you order this one!

Sadly now sold out, but here is a great set of Aliens 25th Anniversary prints from Danny Miller by way of Cinema Overdrive. Here are the details….

For those of you who have been following Cinema Overdrive since the beginning, the name Danny Miller will be very familiar to you.  Not only is Danny an incredibly talented artist, but he is a great friend of the film series and the guy who helped start our monthly poster series as well.  We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with him on a regular basis, and we’re even more fortunate to share some very special news with all of our regulars!

This Monday, March 28th, Danny is very pleased to announce that he will be launching his own exclusive web site, www.dannymillerart.com.  Not only will it have info about the art and the artist, but it will also be featuring some terrific new limited edition art as well!  And to launch this site properly, Danny has created a very special 2 print set commemorating the 25th Anniversary of one of his favorite films of all time:

ALIENS!!!

Yes, you read that right!  Although the site doesn’t officially go public until Monday, Danny was very adamant that all of the Cinema Overdrive regulars get the first chance to buy his brand new set of art before it was released to the general public.  So if you log onto http://dannymillerart.com/aliensprints.html, you can pick up a beautiful pair of 18″ x 24″, 5 color prints (with metallic inks!) that are hand signed and numbered by the artist himself.  These were printed by The Half and Half and they are a very limited edition of just 86 sets.

New print from Cinema Overdrive today featuring a new artist Adam Smasher

This week we’re extremely excited to present our latest exploitation screen print poster, and this one is a doozy!  For those of you who are unfamiliar with SAVAGE STREETS, it must be seen to be believed!  Starring Linda Blair, John Vernon and Linnea Quigley, this film was also directed by Danny Steinmann (who later graced the world with “Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning”).  And man, is it ever “special”!  Think we’re making this up?  Check out the original theatrical trailer here….all of the questions will be answered!

For this screening we were really excited to bring a new artist into the fold named Adam Smasher.  Not only is Adam a huge film buff, but he is a talented artist who really embraced the opportunity to do a true exploitation film poster.  He’s been a big fan of the Cinema Overdrive posters of the past, and wanted to bring something to the table that would do our series justice.  And we feel he did just that!

Without further ado, here is SAVAGE STREETS from Adam Smasher:

BRICK RED edition- 18″ x 24″, 3 color design with metallic inks!  Printed by D&L Screenprinting. Limited edition of only 25 prints (!), each hand numbered.  $25.00 each

HOT PINK edition- 18″ x 24″, 3 color design with metallic inks!  Printed by D&L Screenprinting.  Limited edition of only 25 prints (!), each hand numbered.  $25.00 each

These prints were very popular at the screening last night, and as a result we have an extremely limited number of each available.  And the photos simply don’t do them justice- the metallics look great and D&L did a beautiful job on the printing (as always!)

Based on how small the print runs were (only 25 of each) and how few we have available, we’re limiting these to ONE PER CUSTOMER.  So please specify which version you’d like and we’ll do our best to honor that.  We wanted to be able to offer this poster as something that was truly limited, and we’d like to accommodate as many people as possible.

If you’d like to add this one to your collection just reply to this email and let me know which version you prefer, or email me directly at cinemarat@earthlink.net.  These will not be available on our website until tomorrow at the earliest, and folks on this mailing list get first crack.  So once they’re gone, they’re gone!  (I will try to respond to all emails as promptly as possible, and your patience is appreciated)

And as always, check out our web site at www.cinemaoverdrive.net/merch to see all of the other great art offerings we presently have available.  If you’d like to order SAVAGE STREETS and anything else from our web site let me know, and I’ll gladly combine the shipping.
